Go BackLoch Ness - Monday 2nd April
Here is my diary by Michaela Monese...

We arrived at the Ferrytoll park and ride to get the Megabus at 0915 hours. We travelled from Ferrytoll to Inverness and arrived at around 1220 hours.

On the bus we had to sit separately because of how packed the bus was therefore had to chat over the heads of all the other passengers. Some of the explorers slept but most of us listened to iPods and chilled out for the last time before our hike. Whilst waiting for the City link to take us from Inverness down the West of Loch Ness, we decided to eat our packed lunch. It was at this point when we realised that we didn’t actually have a compass so we searched the town and found nothing but ridiculously expensive compasses.

We waited at Stance 2 as directed however realise after a short while that the bus parked in front of us is actually ours even though it wasn’t a City link. We arrived at Fort Augustus at 2pm.

After a slight misunderstanding about where the Great Glen Way actually was, we were on our way.

Everyone found it really hard going but once we started we got into the groove well. We arrived at Glen Morrison and realised that the hostel was in fact in Invermoriston and we had to walk another 4 miles, in the dark. We arrived at 9pm after unpacking and tending to our blistered and wounded feet. We sorted a dinner of pasta and tomato sauce. We all went for a much needed shower and planned the next day. It was at this point we realised we had no bread or milk. We had walked approximately 12 miles instead of the previously thought 8 miles which we had expected.
